A little story
Yves Rocher story is quite recent, but facinating and reveals its strong values regarding the environment. Here are the key dates of Yves Rocher's history:
1959 - Yves Rocher manufactures and distributes the very firsts of his products in his house. Is it a success and his place quickly comes to be too small: the manufacture of "La Gacilly" is built!
1965 - First "Livre vert de la beauté" (about 10 million exemplars by now)
1969 - Due to the delay of delivering of all the mail-commands (themselves due to the 1968 french strikes), the first Yves Rocher store opens in Paris, Boulevard Hausmann!
1970 - First international store in Belgium and Switzerland. Now, the brand is prensent in more than 80 countries within the five continents.
1991 - Creation of the "Fondation Yves Rocher" for nature's protection
1993 - First trial to reduce their packaging with the sale of eco-recharges.
1997 - The 55 hectares of flower fields of Yves Rocher are certified organic by the Ecocert label.
2000 - Launch of the online store
2006 - No more plastic bags in stores, shopping bag made of tissues are sold.
2007 - Commitment to plant a million of trees for the "1 milliard d'arbres à planter" PNUE campaign. But five million trees were already planted in 2010! They want to plant about 50 million trees before 2015.
2008 - New concept of "Atelier de la Cosmétique Végétale"
2009 - Eco-hotel Spa "La Grée des Landes", with organic cares and Ecolabel certified.
2012 - More than one million fans on Facebook
As we can see, their commitment regarding the environment conservation is real and very strong. The brand has a deep want to preserve flora, and does its best to make things change: this value appears to be more than a trend or a simple marketing strategy. There's no greenwashing about it, they really care about the preservation of the environment, and use their fame to promote it!
