We are Camille, Cindy, Claire-Sophie, Marie and Vigny; 5 students in International Marketing & Business Development from SKEMA Business School. As part of our Brand Management course, we will describe, compare and analyze Yves Rocher and The Body Shop. We chose these brands because of their strong image within the world of green cosmetic products, and we thought it would be interesting to confront them to discover the similarities and differences in their branding strategy.

History of Yves Rocher:


Created in 1959 by Mr Yves Rocher, aiming to create products respecting nature and women. He was the first one to realize botanical beauty. He started by doing mail order selling. In 1965, their first Green Beauty Book was launched. From 1969 started their eco friendly factories' expansion. They opened 4 new factories in Brittany. Meanwhile, they opened the first Yves Rocher Shop Boulevard Haussmann, in Paris. In 1970, they opened their first shop abroad, in Belgium.
Nowadays, they are present in 5 continents and more than 80 countries. The Yves Rocher Foundation was created in 1991and aim to protect nature. In 2000, they opened their online shop. Then, they created their own price "Prix Terre des Femmes" in 2001. In 2007, they committed to the plantation of 1 million trees. In 2009, they opened the Eco-hotel and Spa La Gré des Landes certified Ecolabel European and HQE. Finally in 2012 they participated to the United Nations Summit of Rio.
